In the difficult times of the coronavirus epidemic, BioStat® and haloDoctor donated a device for rapid laboratory analysis to the Pediatric Department of Regional Hospital No. 3 in Rybnik. The FINECARE ™ FIA METER PLUS analyzer is designed for the determination of CRP, procalcitonin and other parameters. It will also be possible to perform rapid immunofluorescence tests designed to detect SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection.
BioStat® purchased the necessary analytical device with test kits so that doctors could immediately use them for diagnostics.
- The procedure of assessing whether a patient reporting to the hospital is infected with a virus or bacteria is very stressful, especially for children, their caregivers and medical staff - explains Dr. Katarzyna Musioł, head of the children's Pediatric Department of Regional Hospital No. 3 in Rybnik. - Thanks to the device handed over by BioStat to our department, quick tests will be performed on site, significantly improving the quality of diagnostics and improving the work of medical staff.
- We are glad that as a research team we can support the treatment of children in a way that brings concrete and quick results - says Dr. Ewa Tkocz-Piszczek, vice president of the BioStat® Research and Development Center, operator of the haloDoctor.pl platform. - The analyzer purchased by BioStat® allows you to perform a wide range of tests, and at the same time reduces the waiting time for the result to a few minutes.
Standard analytical testing, e.g. CRP, is quite complicated and time-consuming. Blood must be taken from a vein, sent to the laboratory and waiting for the result. On average, about 3 hours. A modern analytical device that is delivered to the ward will perform a basic test from a blood sample taken from a finger in a few seconds, and more complicated tests - within a few minutes.
- Modern technologies are changing the face of medicine, responding to the important needs of patients and doctors. We can see it both in the first line, when patients go to, for example, a hospital, and in the dynamically developing area of telemedicine - says Rafał Piszczek, CEO of MedFile S.A. - The haloDoctor.pl platform, which has just been launched, connects patients with doctors remotely and simplifies all procedures related to remote medical advice to a minimum.
